CHARACTERIZATION OF ALPERUJO AND OPTIMIZED EXTRACTION OF OLIVE OIL

Description

The oil industry replaced its oil production procedure, based on a three-phase decanter system for another based on two decanter, all due to environmental legislation that tries to avoid the effects of vegetable water.
This change in the system has made the plant control parameters disappear by the master millers. Thus, the loss of oil in the alperujo is estimated between 3 and 4% on a wet sample and under normal conditions, which represents a loss between 7 and 8% on dry matter, so its control is vital. importance.
In this sense, the present invention refers to a new method of characterization of the alperujo, to determine in real time the percentages of fat and moisture existing in the pomace at the exit of the decanter, and consequently to classify said pomace and determine the good or malfunction of the oil mill.
This method is based on the taking of images of the olive pomace and on the digitization and processing of said images, in order to extract the desired data from them.

Advantages

Compared to existing methods today, this new invention has the following advantages:
• Improves performance in oil production in oil mills.
• This method offers continuous, real-time monitoring.
• It is of low cost, due to the use of conventional means for the processing and acquisition of the images.
• Presents great robustness to variations in the mass of the pomace, mainly in terms of the variety of olives and the evolution of the milling.

Uses and Applications

This technology, which is especially useful for the olive sector, is used to determine if the oil mill is working correctly, as well as to characterize the olive oil.
