ULTRASONIC PROBE HOLDING DEVICE FOR JOINTS
Description
Currently, ultrasound evaluations are carried out by means of a manual and dynamic application on a stretcher and are operator dependent, which requires that the therapist must have experience in handling the probe.
The present invention refers to an adapter and holding device for an ultrasound probe to measure the chosen anatomical structure and that allows to specifically evaluate the thickness, area, size and static anatomical characteristics in the same way as a traditional ultrasound, but improving reliability with relative to manual probe fixation measurements.
The main novelty lies in the fact that dynamic ultrasounds can also be performed and some specific exercise can be performed simultaneously that allows a better assessment of the anatomical structures under load during physiological joint movements.
Advantages
The device allows the linear ultrasound probe (for musculoskeletal ultrasound) to be fitted quickly and easily onto an articular surface, making an accurate image of the anatomical structure. This makes it possible to correctly fix the probe on the skin and observe a fixed, clean and clear ultrasound image of the structure in those people who have or do not have much ultrasound management. It has the advantage of reducing the errors associated with manual fixation of the probe and will allow accurate measurements in a more reliable way.
Uses and Applications
The application of the invention corresponds to the field of health sciences and specifically to traumatology, sports medicine, podiatry and physiotherapy, where there is a high interest in protocolizing measurements for current clinical studies, making this type of device necessary.
It is applied to the healthcare sector and being an easy-to-use device has the advantage that evaluators with little experience or training in ultrasound can obtain the same results as experienced evaluators.
