LOWER LIMB ORTHOPEDIC DEVICE
Description
The present invention is created as an auxiliary support and re-education device framed within the recovery process of a patient affected by clubfoot. It tries not only to be a corrective system, but also a dynamic and re-educating approach. The device is designed to obtain mobilization, variable force and neuromuscular response. Compared to passive orthoses designed primarily for postural correction, the present invention is an orthopedic device for lower extremities capable of mitigating the limitations inherent to previous models and at the same time preserving assistance during walking. In the face of passive orthoses oriented exclusively towards a static correction and positioning of the segment in space, the present invention promotes the active participation of the individual, while assisting and re-educating gait.
Advantages
The advantages of the new orthopedic device are the following:
• This system allows the ankle joint to be mobilized and, in addition, incorporates a gait assistance regulation system, so the user obtains both assistance in daily life and a non-immobilizing neuromuscular activation pathway.
• Creates an activation stimulus through the neurotransmitters of the ankle, this technique being widely used in physiotherapy sessions.
Uses and Applications
The application of the invention corresponds to the field of orthopedic devices for the treatment and recovery of lower extremities. The main application of the designed device focuses on the gradual recovery of the condition called clubfoot through an active orthopedic system.
Therefore, the invention brings together the benefits of a passive gait assistance system and those attributable to an active recovery system.
