OBTAINING NEW POSTBIOTIC PRODUCTS
Description
Probiotics are viable microorganisms that exert a beneficial effect on the organism that receives them. Specifically, the probiotic strain SpPdp11 has demonstrated numerous beneficial effects after dietary administration to farmed fish. However, probiotics may have some limitations, such as the risk of microbial translocation, infection or inflammatory responses in hosts with unbalanced or compromised immune systems. Furthermore, regulations and policy statements on the use of microorganisms make the acceptance of non-lactic acid bacteria difficult. As an alternative to these limitations, the concept of postbiotic has emerged, which refers to those factors resulting from the metabolic activity of a probiotic or any molecule released from it capable of conferring beneficial effects on the host directly or indirectly. In this invention, the adaptation of the methodology to obtain extracts and extracellular products of SpPdp11 with postbiotic potential has been carried out using different probiotic culture conditions.
Advantages
Postbiotics have shown advantages over probiotics since they tend to have clear chemical structures, with safe dosage parameters, and for storage they are more stable than the live bacteria from which they are derived and with a longer shelf life. In addition, they have favorable absorption, metabolism, distribution and excretion capabilities.
Uses and Applications
Its field of application would focus on the aquaculture sector and especially with regard to the biocontrol of diseases in this industry.
