NATURAL POLYSACCHARIDE WITH ANTIOXIDANT, ANTITUMOR AND HEALING ACTIVITY
Description
Cancer is characterized by the proliferation of cells that have managed to evade central endogenous control mechanisms. Traditionally, treatment for this disease is associated with severe side effects, resulting in a substantial detriment to patient well-being. Thus, the need arises to develop natural anti-tumor drugs with little or no toxic effects on human health.
The present invention consists of an extract of a polysaccharide that exhibits cytotoxic activity against human colon, lung, human melanoma, and murine leukemia tumor cells, in addition to antioxidant and wound-healing activity.
The present invention addresses the development of its production method, its uses, and applications, particularly through drugs for cancer treatment and/or antioxidant and wound-healing compositions.
Advantages
The main advantages are:
- Natural origin: extracted from the biomass of extremophile fungi.
- High selectivity: specific toxicity against tumor cells, without harming healthy cells.
- Rapid healing: proven efficacy in human skin regeneration.
- Multifunctional action: combines antioxidant, antitumor, and wound-healing properties.
- Scalable production: bioprocess adaptable for biomedical and nutraceutical applications.
Uses and Applications
The present invention has applications in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and nutraceutical sectors and can be used as:
- A drug or adjuvant in cancer therapies (colon, breast, lung).
- An active ingredient in antioxidant products to prevent cell damage.
- A wound-healing agent in dermatological formulations or bioactive dressings.
