PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING A NEW VPO CATALYST
Description
Catalysts based on vanadium and phosphorous oxides (VPO) are known for their catalytic properties in the oxidation reactions of light alkanes. In particular, VPO catalysts constitute the only commercial catalyst system for the gas phase oxidation of n-butane to maleic anhydride.
Many inventions can be found referring to different methods of synthesis of VPO catalysts, and there are several studies that show that these VPO catalysts could catalyze partial oxidation reactions of other light alkanes, however, these processes are not currently carried out in such a way. industrial due to the technological drawbacks they present.
Thus, the present invention provides a process for obtaining a VPO catalyst on a biomass carbonaceous support from plant and animal material, such as wood from forests, residues from agricultural and forestry processes, and from industrial, human or animal waste.
Advantages
Among the advantages of the present invention are:
• This procedure requires less severe pressure and temperature conditions.
• From the chemical activation of the biomass material, a carbon with greater stability at high temperatures under oxidation conditions is obtained.
• The carbonaceous catalytic support is resistant under the reaction conditions, presenting a high value of surface area and being its preparation feasible from the technological point of view, since it can revalue biomass residues.
• The catalysts used in the present invention, being very active, allow working at high space velocities, which presents a great industrial advantage, since they require larger volume reactors.
Uses and Applications
This technology is useful for obtaining a VPO catalyst on a biomasic carbonaceous support oriented to the production of hydrocarbons, within the chemical sector.
