USE OF A NEW MEMORY ENHANCER TO PREVENT COGNITIVE DISORDERS
Description
Memory disorders can manifest as the inability to learn new information and / or the inability to recall previously learned information. Memory loss is the first symptom of dementia and also a symptom that is manifested in different neurological, psychiatric and / or neurodegenerative diseases, in developmental disorders and also during aging. The number of patients with memory disorders has increased significantly in recent decades and the high cost of treatment and the deterioration in quality of life have become a huge social problem. Until now, the remedy against cognitive and / or memory disorders continues to be a challenge, however, the present invention provides experimental data that treatment with the RGS-14 protein, through the expression of a nucleotide sequence that codes for it, produces both the prevention and the treatment of declarative memory loss in sick animals. In this sense, the present invention consists of the use of the human RGS-14 protein for the manufacture of a drug for the prevention and / or treatment of at least one cognitive disorder and / or one memory disorder in a mammal.
Advantages
Among the main advantages of the present invention are: • The use of the RGS-14 protein prevents cognitive and memory disorders caused by aging as well as Alzheimer's disease. • In addition, the overexpression of the RGS-14 protein enhances both short-term and long-term memory.
Uses and Applications
The present technology has its utility in the pharmaceutical area for the manufacture of a specific drug as a memory enhancer that in turn can be used for the treatment and prevention of cognitive disorders in the memory of a mammal.
